Just a few hundred metres from Torbay’s coastline lies a small rocky island known locally as Thatcher’s Rock. Mike, the skipper of Sunfish Charters, gave us the dive briefing and then it was kit up, buddy check and backward roll over the side. We were on the southeast side of the rock and close to the shore with the ocean floor just 5m below us when we made our descent.
