My first dive was not a bad intro to the delights of the Maldives aboard the MV Sea Spirit, a traditionally built 27-metre Maldivian liveaboard. Not only did we have the main vessel, but we also had back-up support from a typical Maldivian dhoni for diving purposes, and a further small vessel with outboard for other functions.
