TEKCamp wins Eurotek innovation award
Vobster Quay’s annual TEKCamp event beat off stiff competition to scoop the prestigious Eurotek Innovation award at a glittering gala awards ceremony held at the Eurotek Advanced Diving Conference in Birmingham on 13 October.
Surrounded by an audience of technical diving luminaries from across the globe - including Jill Heinerth, Professor Simon Mitchell and the 'father of technical diving' Michael Menduno, to name just a few - TEKCamp founders Amy and Martin Stanton of Vobster Quay took to the stage to accept this prestigious award.
This industry-renowned award recognises an advanced or technical diving innovation that has enabled divers to further their diving or has made diving safer.
"We're deeply honoured and delighted to be considered for the innovation award, never mind actually winning it! It's a tribute to the team of staff, instructors and safety divers who made it all happen plus, of course, our major sponsor Fourth Element. TEKCamp is a truly collaborative, multi-agency event for divers that's all about actual diving. Thanks," gushed TEKCamp supremo Martin Stanton.
TEKCamp 2012 was a unique opportunity to ‘speed date’ some of the biggest names in technical diving from all the major training agencies. Over five solid days, attendees participated in daily in-water coaching sessions covering a broad range of skills, fascinating lectures and talks. Even for those not looking to go down the tech route, TEKCamp 2012 offered a unique opportunity to improve their skills and diving confidence under the direct guidance of some of the UK's foremost technical instructors. Attendees also got to try a dive on a state-of-the-art closed circuit rebreather and be in with the chance of winning prizes worth thousands of pounds.
The next TEKCamp is scheduled to take place between 8-12 July 2013. Tickets are on sale now from www.tekcamp.co.uk
