New dive experience to run in Mozambique

In December this year, Aqua-Firma Marine Scientist Charlotte Caffrey will be pioneering a new concept in diving in Mozambique’s Quirimbas Islands.

The Island Hopping Dive Safari will offer divers the opportunity to travel to the best dive spots, staying in a combination of eco-tented camps on uninhabited islands, and coastal hotels.

The islands of the Quirimbas National Park in northern Mozambique are the coral jewels of African diving, with some stunning reefs and more than 400 species of fish.

Typical of Aqua-Firma, there will be far more than diving to make this a memorable above and below water experience. Travel will be a combination of traditional sailing dhow, sea kayak and light aircraft. In addition to diving, there will be plenty free diving opportunities on the islands’ many shallow reefs, and the team will carry kayaks for desolate beach landings and exploration of mangrove channels full of birdlife.

The final destination is Mozambique’s very own Zanzibar: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ibo Island.

For those with longer to spare, you can join Charlotte Caffrey and Dr Andrea Marshall in south-eastern Mozambique for one of Aqua-Firma’s Manta Ray Research & Conservation Experiences.
