Longest standing reader?

With the sad demise of Sport Diver EMEA, which is closing after the March 2017 issue, we threew out a challenge to see who could boast the longest relationship with the title over its 28 year history. Brian Fairbrother is certainly in with a shout!

Brian explains below how he came to find Sport Diver:

"I passed by PADI Open Water in Mexico in August 1999. On arrival back in the UK I picked up a copy of Sport Diver in Manchester and as a result I wrote to you asking for advice as to where to continue diving. I also decided to take a subscription to Sport Diver the following month. Due to adverts in Sport Diver, I hooked up with New Horizons Dive Centre in Macclesfield.

"I decided to do a Dry suit specialty so I could dive in the UK and then not longer after I did my Advanced Open Water Diver course at Stoney Cove. Occasionally I would write to you to tell you about my progress. I certainly did make progress and went up through the ranks, becoming a PADI OWSI in December 2004 and a PADI Staff Instructor in October 2006. I can teach 17 Specialities as well as EFRI.

"If it was not for  Sport Diver I doubt any of this would have happened. I would probably have just been a warm water holiday diver just diving once a year.

"You probably don't remember any of this but I do."
