Get creative on your career break
Gap Year and career break specialists Gap Year Diver Ltd have launched a marine conservation programme which focuses on reef restoration in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia.
Run in conjunction with the Gili Eco Trust the programme aims to educate individuals about coral ecology and the importance of coral reefs within the marine environment. It is designed to raise awareness towards the general state of coral reefs worldwide and the need for responsible behaviour in order to protect the remaining healthy reefs.
In addition, the project introduces divers to Biorock Technology – a method of enhancing the growth of aquatic organisms, and structures created. Students learn to identify damaged areas of coral, the cause of coral destruction, and use Biorock Technology for coral resurrection and erosion prevention when building their own
structure.
The programme is designed for gap year students, those looking for thesis and dissertation topics, career breakers and anyone interested in more than the average diving holiday!
Projects range in length from two weeks to ten weeks and comprise transfers, accommodation, meals, dive kit hire, tanks, weights, air, PADI courses, Biorock Speciality training and the opportunity to design and build their own Biorock structure. Prices start at £985 for two weeks.
